You seriously NEVER know.

OPEN OPEN OPEN. This is what I see now that I must be to all new things. If you told me 3 years ago that I would own my own custom designed fabric business and lifestyle line, I would never have believed you. 

Teaching a new curriculum of Graphic Design when I moved to Grand Rapids from Chicago in 2010 turned out to be a life changer for me and my family.  Of all the mediums I learned at Kresge Art Center at MSU,  graphic design wasn't something I particularly expressed great interest in.

While I don't live with regrets, I would have preferred learning from Joe Kuzai in the lab back then, versus teaching myself in a state of panic weeks before I had to teach it. I wasn't so open minded in college, and that is something I am learning with time.
