Leland gal adopts a new tagline, here's why.
After 5 years with Leland gal, I felt there was something missing within our branding. While, I liked having the state of Michigan represented on our tags, I still felt that wasn't truly "ours" to use, nor do I feel our patterns are strictly for Michiganders anymore. I wanted to bust out, but I didn't know how or who could help me find the words.
Before I tell you how this all transpired, let me tell you that the owners of Reese Creative are no strangers to my family. Greg Reese arrived on the scene when I was around 12 as my brothers college roommate at Hillsdale College.
They were in college in a fraternity and I was the annoying middle school aged little sister who gave my brother tie dye t-shirts that turned ALL of his shirts pink. Known as "Woody" to all of us, Greg tolerated me and my friends on family trips and even came to my college graduation.
Later down the road, "Woody" found his beautiful blonde counterpart and our whole family came to the wedding.

By some crazy coincidence we all ended up in Grand Rapids where we both started our families.  Greg and Carolyn now have five beautiful children and a separate office above their garage which is the think tank of their company, Reese Creative.

When I called The Reese's to ask for help, we set up a very formal appointment with one baby napping, one teething, one watching a movie, a couple of beers and a roaring fireplace on a rainy day. I couldn't believe how fun it was to play with words, and understand the concept of looking at your brand from 300 feet in the sky and attempting to capture the essence of what it is with a tagline.

Greg and Carolyn took my request extremely seriously and after our meeting they went home to put their brains to work. The following week, when presented with a list of MANY MANY wonderful options, "Make Light of It" stood out immediately. It was literally perfect, and I felt set free completely. With this tagline, we could go in all of the directions I imagined possible, and it captured the essence of who we are.  Whether it is your home, your outfit, or your mind set, "make light of it."  I loved how it also reminded me of my grandmother and her great sense of never allowing too much weight on any subject matter and had the ability to keep it light. This tagline was not only a great one for my brand, but a tagline for life.

Reese Creative also helped create this copy for our bio cards, which sums what we think Leland gal has come to represent.

Look for this new tagline on all of our products moving forward, and as you approach your day, see if you can choose a path with the brightest outlook and state of mind.

Great move forward, Lelandgal! Good job, Reeses! “Make Light of It” is an attitude, not just a slogan, and we all need a good dose of it!

Love it! I’m feeling lighter already after having shed a boat load of “happy tears” from reading this. I’ve been touched and (en)lightened. Thank you Maggie and Reese Creative!
