Lindy Bishop

SugarGlass

Known for her contemporary impressionistic style, Lindy Bishop captures scenes of Michigan and around the world. Her work explores the rural landscapes and the people who inhabit them, navigating the delicate boundary between realism and abstraction, and using an expressive sense of color and shape to bring an organic contemporary perspective to traditional subjects.

Whether painting the freshwater lakes and orchards of the Midwest or documenting the quiet charm of small towns discovered through global travel, Lindy aims to project a profound sense of well-being.

Lindy employs a diverse toolkit that includes oil paint, oil sticks, acrylic, markers, and graphite and balances her practice between the immersive experience of painting en plein air—submerged in the atmosphere of a farm field or woods—and the reflective environment of the studio.

"SugarGlass is an enchanting glassware concept created by Carolyn Sutton, founder of the Omaha-based public relations firm Carolyn Sutton PR. Inspired by her lifelong passion for entertaining, travel, fine glassware, and thoughtfully curated floral design, SugarGlass blends bespoke artistry with refined elegance - brought to life by Nebraska glass artists.

For years, Sutton has delighted in curating layered, expressive tablescapes that bring together styles, eras, and florals to create spaces where guests can relax, connect, and celebrate. At the heart of her approach is a simple belief: hosting should feel as beautiful as it is welcoming.

The idea for SugarGlass was sparked after discovering the work of Nebraska glass artisan Matthew Shrader, following a transformative dining experience in a small restaurant in the heart of LaGuardia, Spain in 2023. There, exquisite glassware elevated the entire meal, sparking conversation, emotion, and joy. That moment became the inspiration to recreate that feeling through a Nebraska-based creative collaboration.

The debut collection, named in honor of Sutton’s travels, features bespoke hues inspired by destinations including Barcelona, Capri, Paris, Northern Michigan, the Bahamas, and beyond. Sutton unveiled the inaugural line in July 2024 in Northern Michigan in partnership with Leland Gal, seamlessly weaving the pieces into both her personal lifestyle and professional work.

Whether styled on a window ledge, layered on a bookshelf, or given as a thoughtful hostess gift, each piece carries an understated elegance and a sense of joy.
